Blue Jean Baby LA Lady

I would take the 101 to the 10 to the 405 for you! I love you LA!

Last week I wandered about DTLA in my typical tomboyish style. I’ve wanted to share with you a post that reflects my everyday look for quick runs to the markets, post office, salon, etc. I also wanted to share with you a place that is close to my heart, a place called  Los Angeles.

I grew up just east of Pasadena in a small town called Glendora. I spent most of my twenties all over the place. I mean literally I moved over a dozen times just in my 20’s. From Van Nuys, CA to Woodland Hills, CA to Sherman Oaks, CA to Jupiter, FL to Tequesta, FL back to Glendora, CA to North Hollywood, CA to Encino, CA back to Glendora, CA back to Port Saint Lucie, FL to Pasadena, CA. You get the picture.

No matter where I find myself running off too, I always know my heart will forever be in Los Angeles.

When I turned thirty, I knew I had seen enough to appreciate the joy of the little things. The little things that Los Angeles has that people take for granted when living here or visiting.

Here are just a few we take for granted as spoiled Angels:

1. Burritos!
After spending some time in the south of Florida, and well pretty much all of the nation. I have come to discover how truly spoiled we are in LA with our south of the border flavors. Burritos in the morning, Burritos in the evening, Burritos at dinnertime.

2. The Original Flower Market.
No other place in the entire Nation compares to our Flower Market. It’s the Original, and whether you appreciate flowers or not it’s a pretty spectacular site. If you plan to visit soon, email me for info. I’m there once a week.

3. Ace Hotel – I’m talking Rooftop Views!
The Ace is something special, and a view quite like this should never be taken for granted. So much history in the Downtown, and when a building offers a birds eye view like this in its raw beauty (insert a deep breath) Well to me that deserves a high five.

4. BEACHES Oh my Beaches!
El Matador Beach in Malibu, CA. – As Californians, we are spoiled with so many beaches that have so many different appearances. So it’s easy enough to shrug off the thought of visiting yet another beach if your set with your local spot. But let me tell you if you haven’t visited El Matador well then you haven’t visited Los Angeles. Words don’t do it justice and from a photographers point of view, it’s at the tippy top for beach shoots.

5. Venice Beach & Canals.
Venice makes me smile the second I think about it. It’s fun outlandish full of life and love personality. It has a tough shell, but man oh man it’s loveable. Put it on the list because if you’re looking to let loose, and maybe get into a little trouble, this is the place to be. (insert happy face) If you know what I mean?! WinkWink.

6. ART! ART! ART!
LET’s talk ART and this could easily be a trip on its own.
LACMA
The Broad
Collete Miller Wings (Hidden Art all over LA)
Huntington Library & Botanical Gardens
MOCA
Natural History
Griffith Observatory
Getty Center
Peterson Automotive
La Brea Tar Pits
Norton Simon
Pasadena Museum of California Arts … , and more.

7. Beverly Hills
Rodeo Drive Baby! Sure Julia did it why can’t we. Right? YES!

8. HOLLYWOOD / West Hollywood
The Sign, the Hollyweirdos, the Walk of Fame, nightlife.

9. Santa Monica
The Pier, the Carousel, Muscle Beach, galleries, food & shops.

10. Pasadena Closest to my heart in every way.

11. Silverlake  Just do it!

12. Melrose Ave. A bloggers fav! Salons, dining, coffee, shopping, entertainment.

13. But First, Coffee.
Bottega Louie with a side of macaroons, please!
Intelligentsia Coffee – Silverlake location.
The Verve
Alfred Coffee
California Donuts
Sidecar Donuts
Comoncy
Joan’s on Third
LA Chapter
République much more…

14. The Grove
Where you can visit the Orignal Farmers Market.

15. IN N OUT  Last on the list because it just wouldn’t be complete without it. Just Animal Style something!

“Being an LA girl is something special, and I no longer take it for granted.” Finally, come to a realization that it’s best if I divide my time up in and out of the city. So, if you don’t see me here next year or tomorrow. Just remember I’ll never leave. I’ll always come back. You’re my gem. You built my strength in every way.

I dedicate this post to the city and county of Los Angeles.
